Frosty is a Great Horned Owl That was hit by a car as a young bird in California in 1996. Unfortunately the people that hit him took him home instead of taking him to a rehabilitation center. He then was attacked by their dog and suffered even more injuries. The people felt sorry for him and tried to euthanize him by placing him in their freezer. Since Great Horned Owls are very comfortable living and even breeding during the cold winter months, the freezer did not cause him any additional harm. After a day or so the people checked on the owl in their freezer only to find him alive. They finally did the right thing and took him to a vet for medical care. Frosty came to us in 2006 and is a wonderful educational bird and foster parent.
